Light of the Valley in Layton to host Easter for Kids

LAYTON — On March 23, Light of the Valley Lutheran Church, 1074 N. Fairfield Road, in Layton, will host an Easter for Kids.

The event will run from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to ages 3 through eighth grade.

It is offered free of charge to all children.

Vendors can sign up for craft fair

OGDEN — The Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1481 will hold a craft fair Nov. 29 through Dec. 1, to benefit the VFW National Military Assistance Program.

Weber libraries offer help to kids after school

OGDEN — The Weber County Library system offers a free after-school program to help kids learn skills in math, science, technology and crafts.

The program is designed for elementary-aged children and is offered at these locations:

• Ogden Valley Branch, 131 S. 7400 East, Huntsville;

• Pleasant Valley Branch, 5568 S. Adams Ave., Ogden; and

• Southwest Branch, 1950 W. 4800 South, Roy.

The program will be offered until May 23.

SYRACUSE -- Cook Elementary students pulled out all the stops for their recent arts and crafts night, with an 8-foot dragon boasting 800 scales, a rain forest decorated with florescent umbrellas, and a wind tunnel down one hallway with hundreds of Tibetan prayer flags designed by each student flapping from the breeze created by fans.

Wildcats majoring in education learn by teaching at Kitty College

OGDEN -- Kwanzaa and New Year's Eve celebrations and resolutions are all things to think about the week after Christmas, but now younger minds are thinking about those things, too, thanks to Weber State University's College of Education Kitty College for elementary school-aged kids this week.

‘Spook-Tacular’ set for Saturday in Bountiful

BOUNTIFUL — A Halloween activity is scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at South Davis Recreation Center.

The “Spook-Tacular” will include a canoe ride through a haunted swamp, a walk through the haunted locker room, carnival games, a trick-or-treat alley, a goblin grub and spooky crafts.

Each activity requires tickets, and each ticket is 50 cents.

The center, 550 N. 200 West, is a consolidated facility for residents of Bountiful, Centerville, Woods Cross, West Bountiful and North Salt Lake. Call 298-6220 for more details.

Art show, craft sale Saturday at church

CLEARFIELD -- The community is invited to an art show and craft sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Clearfield Community Church, 200 S. 500 East.

Local artists will be there to display and sell their work.

The church will sell craft items suitable for gifts.

Craft show set for Golden Spike

OGDEN — Folks who are crazed for crafts can get their fill at the “Summer Daze” craft show opening Wednesday.

The Kottage Kupboard event runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Golden Spike Event Center, 1000 N. 1200 West.

VFW Post plans boutique fundraiser to benefit veterans, families

OGDEN — VFW Post 1481 at 907 W. 12th St. will have a craft boutique Thursday through Saturday to raise money for the post’s veteran and family support programs.
