Ogden police arrest six in prostitution sting

OGDEN — The world’s oldest profession has gone from advertising its wares with red lights to advertising on Facebook, and police have taken notice.

The Ogden Police Department performed a prostitution sting operation Friday, arresting women whom officers contacted through small local newspapers and online escort sites.

“We’ve been noticing an increase in advertisement,” Police Lt. Scott Conley said.

Same scam, different name. As people work hard for their money, someone works equally hard to steal it.

Craigslist robbers lured victims with fake iPad ads

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Police have arrested two men who are suspected of robbing people at gunpoint after luring them to a restaurant parking lot with fake ads on Craigslist.

(The Associated Press) This undated photo provided by the Summit County Sheriff Department in Ohio shows Richard J. Beasley. By one account, Richard Beasley was a devoted mentor to a 16-year-old high school junior, taking him to church almost weekly, going fishing, playing video games and involving him in volunteer work. But the teenager’s mother paints another picture of Beasley _ that of a man who threatened her son and who once said that he knew where the teen lived and that “I know where your mother lives.” Whatever the nature of the relationship, it apparently ended this month after the teen was charged with attempted murder in a scheme that police say lured applicants for a phony Craigslist job posting into deadly robberies.

CALDWELL, Ohio — An Ohio teenager charged with attempted murder in a scheme authorities say lured Craigslist job-seekers into lethal robberies is not a monster, but a “scared little boy,” his mother says.
