TREMONTON -- A Las Vegas man is accused of pushing a 2-year-old girl to the pavement and holding a knife to her mother's throat after he demanded the woman's wallet and she said no.
Police say the violent robbery occurred after nightfall Dec. 2 when the suspect, Lee Lish, 23, approached the 25-year-old woman in the back parking lot of King's Discount Department Store at 2 E. Main St.
Lish has relatives in the area and was in town for a funeral, said Police Chief David Nance.
Lish reportedly demanded that the victim, who had been shopping with her children, a girl, 2, and a boy, 3, hand over her wallet, and she refused. That's when Lish knocked over the girl, pulled a knife and held it to the woman's throat, Nance said.
The man fled in a vehicle, and the woman was able to give police a good physical description of the suspect, as well as of his vehicle and license plate number, Nance said.
Lish was tracked down by officers at a relative's home. Police arrested him and recovered the knife and the victim's wallet, Nance said.
Lish is charged with felony aggravated robbery and one count of assault. He made an initial appearance in court Monday and is due back for a preliminary hearing Jan. 5.
