TREMONTON -- A Honeyville man is facing a number of felony charges after a woman told police he pushed her to the floor and raped her last month in her home.
Police arrested Rick Nathaniel Hansen, 26, on Jan. 23 in the Honeyville home he shares with relatives. Officers reportedly found him hiding in a closet under a blanket.
Hansen is charged with rape, a first-degree felony, two felony counts of forcible sex abuse and one count of focible sodomy.
A 21-year-old Tremonton woman told police the rape occurred on Jan. 22 after Hansen made sexual advances toward her and she told him she was "not ready."
That's when Hansen pushed the woman to the floor and forced her to have sex, according to the probable cause affidavit.
The woman said she told Hansen to stop and that she did not want to have sex at least six times, and tried to get away from Hansen, but was unable to.
The victim later checked herself into the hospital, where doctors performed a sexual assault exam and authorities took evidence.
Police listened in on several phone calls between Hansen and the victim following the alleged rape.
The probable cause states that during one of the calls, Hansen admitted he knew that the victim didn't want to have sex with him prior to the incident and that he did not stop when she asked him to.
The document also says that multiple officers and deputies assisted in Hansen's arrest because he has a history of assault and resisting arrest.
Court records show Hansen pleaded no contest to assault in 2007, but he violated his probation and was sentenced to jail.
When interviewed in Box Elder County Jail, police say, Hansen repeatedly changed his story, but denied that he held the victim against her will.
Hansen will be arraigned in 1st District Court in Brigham City on Feb. 8.
