Parole board denies request

MURRAY -- The Utah Board of Pardons and Parole has ruled that a man who pleaded guilty to a brutal slaying in 1990 must spend the rest of his life in prison.

Thomas Noffsinger pleaded guilty to capital murder in the death of Victor Aguilar in March 1990. Aguilar was stabbed five times in the back, stomped on and then had his throat slashed.

Relatives Aguilar spoke this month at a parole board hearing, saying they did not want to see Noffsinger ever freed from prison.

The board ruled against parole Noffsinger in an order Wednesday.
