SALT LAKE CITY -- A federal prosecutor says 158 people have been arrested in a four-month gang task force crackdown by police and immigration agents in communities across Utah and western Nevada.
U.S. Attorney Carlie Christensen in Salt Lake City said Thursday that 93 of those arrested face state or federal criminal charges for crimes including solicitation to commit aggravated murder and forcible sexual abuse.
Another 65 will face immigration proceedings.
Arrests were made in 23 Utah cities and in West Wendover, Nev.
Among those arrested were 125 foreign nationals from five countries -- Argentina, El Salvador, Honduras, Mexico and Peru.
Christensen says 31 had been previously deported from the United States.
