TREMONTON -- A 15-year-old boy was booked into the Cache County Juvenile Detention Center on suspicion of attempted homicide after police say he stabbed an 18-year-old in Tremonton.
Sgt. Todd Hunsaker said the teen was taken into custody Thursday and a 20-year-old man was also booked into the Cache County Jail on suspicion of assault.
The incident occurred just after 4 p.m. Thursday at Ridley's Family Market, 74 S. 100 East. The victim was stabbed several times in the chest and abdomen after an altercation with several people.
The victim was treated by emergency medical technicians and taken to Bear River Valley Hospital. He underwent emergency surgery before being transported by helicopter to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. Hunsaker said Friday morning he is in critical but stable condition.
Names of the victim and those involved are not yet being released, because of the ongoing investigation, Hunsaker said. He also said he could not release what provoked the 15-year-old, who Hunsaker said was an acquaintance of his.
"I can tell you the two didn't like each other," he said. "It's not specifically gang-related, but there are some gang ties there."
