Bicyclist hit by car in Layton

LAYTON -- Emergency personnel were still trying to identify a bicyclist who was struck by a car Tuesday and flown by helicopter to a local hospital with possible life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred just before 8 p.m. when a green Honda Accord trying to make a left-hand turn onto Gordon Avenue struck an adult male who was riding a bicycle south on Fairfield Road, Layton Sgt. Todd Derrick said.

The man, who is Caucasian, possibly between 30 and 40 years old, was not carrying any identification, Derrick said. His condition also was unknown late Tuesday after he was flown to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden.

No citations have been issued, and the accident remains under investigation, Derrick said. The female driver of the Accord and her passengers were uninjured.
