'The Dark Knight'

Tom Hardy stars as Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises."

'The Dark Knight,' new characters and all, does not disappoint

At the start of “The Dark Knight Rises,” it has been eight years since the events of the previous film. Batman (Christian Bale) has disappeared after taking the blame for the murders committed by Harvey Dent, to turn him into a martyr, to preserve him as a symbol of hope for the city.

So Batman has become the hero nobody wants, the hero no one appreciates.

But now Gotham is in peacetime. The Dent Acts gave the city the power to destroy all organized crime, locking away the mob members for life. Dent is praised as a hero, while Bruce Wayne has dropped out of the public eye.
