Nancy Louise Anderson, 54, of Roy, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, of cancer. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m., Feb. 15, at Washington Heights Baptist Church, 1770 E. 6200 South, in South Ogden. Friends may call from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the church. DaVinci Academy debuts completed gym to public

OGDEN — DaVinci Academy students spent Thursday evening greeting guests and fellow students with big grins. Many were literally bouncing off the walls as they showed off the school’s new gym to the public.

Open house set for new DaVinci gym

OGDEN -- The DaVinci Academy will host an open house for its new gym on Thursday.

The public is invited, and organizers especially hope to see former employees of the American Can Company, which originally occupied the school's building.

DaVinci students tag butterflies, tracking their progress on migratory route

OGDEN -- Ron Hellstern's Advanced Placement environmental science class successfully launched an experiment Friday.

The students, ranging from sophomores to seniors at DaVinci Academy of Science and the Arts, tagged little stickers on the beautiful wings of monarch butterflies, then set them free in hopes that the colorful insects would reach Southern California.

$5M expansion of DaVinci in Ogden wrapping up

OGDEN -- As DaVinci Academy of Science and the Arts students work to increase their knowledge, construction crews are applying finishing touches to a $5 million expansion project at the downtown charter school.

Renovations to a 38,000-square-foot, three-story building at the southwest corner of 20th Street and Grant Avenue in the AmeriCan complex should be completed next month to keep pace with growing student enrollment, said Jessie Kidd, executive director of DaVinci Academy.
