FARMINGTON -- The demolition derby will again be one of the highlights and one of the ticketed events of the Davis County Fair.
The Davis County Commission recently approved a $4,000 contract with Intrepid Motor Sports, of Roy, to produce its annual derby at the county fair.
The Davis County Fair is scheduled for Aug. 17-20 at the Legacy Events Center, 151 S. 1100 West.
Admission to the fair is free, but there will be a special admission charge to see the demolition derby, said fair coordinator Megan Hatch.
This year's derby will be at 8 p.m. Aug. 17 in the outdoor arena, she said.
Ticket prices for the event have not been set, Hatch said, but tickets are expected to go on sale July 1.
The Roy company has produced the fair's demolition derby for years, Hatch said.
"They do a great job. We are excited to work with them."
The county pays the company to produce the event, she said, then the county receives all gate receipts excluding the participation fees drivers pay to enter the competition. Those fees go to Intrepid Motor Sports.
In past years, the derby has been the fair's biggest draw, Hatch said. She said the event, held in the outdoor arena, can accommodate about 3,000 spectators.
