FARMINGTON -- More creatures, such as spiders and snakes, have been added to this year's Davis County Fair lineup, providing a little crawly something for everyone.
The Davis County Commission recently approved a $2,600 contract with Creature Encounters, of Salt Lake City. The exotic animal display is to be part of the 2011 Davis County Fair Science Discovery Tent.
The county fair is scheduled for Aug. 17-20 at Legacy Events Center, 151 S. 1100 West in Farmington.
The Creature Encounters display will feature spiders, snakes, lizards and scorpions. It was brought back by the county because of its popularity at past fairs.
Davis County Fair coordinator Megan Hatch said the display has been part of the fair for the past two years.
"It's always a big success at the fair," she said.
In addition to the return of the Creature Encounters display, this year's fair will feature a rattlesnake wrangler, some splash dogs and a petting zoo that includes an animal resembling a yak.
The Davis County Fair is free to the public, with the exception of a few ticketed events such as the demolition derby and PRCA rodeo.
Fair officials selected "Viva Las Davis" as this year's theme, because of the wide variety of entertainment and displays being made available.
