Richard R. Romero, 62, of Layton, Utah, died Monday, August 30, 2010. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 3, 2010, at 9 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel Street, Layton. Friends may visit family Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Prayer service 7 p.m. Interment, Lindquist's Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Road. Condolences may be shared at: www.lindquistmortuary.com.

A Pierce County sheriff's deputy and Graham firefighters work around the smoldering remains of a house near Fredrickson, Wash., on Sunday. A sheriff's spokesman says three bodies were were found in the home. The bodies are believed to be Josh Powell and his two young sons. The explosion occurred moments after a Child Protective Services worker brought the two boys to the home for a supervised visit.
