2 Utah debates scheduled for U.S. Senate candidates

SALT LAKE CITY -- Republican delegates who will decide the fate of U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch will have two opportunities to hear the incumbent senator face-off against his main challengers.

Hundreds of teens from across Utah role play as legislators

SALT LAKE CITY -- More than 500 teens representing 35 cities met Wednesday morning at the Capitol to role play as legislators as part of the Utah League of Cities and Towns Local Officials Day.

As part of that experience, two groups debated whether cellphone use while driving should be prohibited for those younger than 18.

A third group debated prohibiting idling vehicles within town limits.

WSU team advances to national Ethics Bowl championship

OGDEN -- A team of Weber State students has taken top regional honors in a "bowl game" of a different sort.

The WSU team won the 11th annual Wasatch Regional Ethics Bowl Competition and will advance to the national championship March 1 in Cincinnati.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, Mich. -- Rick Perry says he "stepped in it" when he couldn't remember the third federal department he would cut if elected, but insisted the debate blunder wouldn't force him out of the Republican presidential field.

CONCORD, N.H. -- One week after yet another disappointing performance in a national debate, Texas Gov. Rick Perry said the whole experience has been a mistake.

Speaking on Fox News host Bill O'Reilly's talk show Tuesday night, Perry said the debates "are set up for nothing more than to tear down the candidates."
