Ring around Christmas

The homey spirit of the holidays gets its start, appropriately enough, right at the front door.

For centuries, wreaths have been a part of the season, symbolizing our never-ending connections with nature, faith and good cheer.

Some unusual objects including a bicycle, a trike, a chrone car bumper, fan blades, a bowling ball and a wagon adorn the tree in front of Ella and Bill Hazelwood's home in Clearfield.

Timeless tree trimmings

Golf club, bowling ball, bicycle, ThighMaster, wagon and a car bumper -- not your typical lawn decor. Not to mention they're all resting up in the same tree.

But the Hazelwoods admit they are not typical decorators.

One drive by their Clearfield home offers proof of their personal style -- once you catch a glimpse of the front yard, with its large cottonwood tree adorned in metal.

"Actually, it was my wife's idea," said Bill Hazelwood. "We had a tree out front and we wanted to cut it down because it was getting messy.
