OGDEN — More than 300 Democrats turned out Saturday to choose their state delegates, listen to candidates’ speeches and get revved up for November.

“We’re going to go out and change this state,” said Jim Dabakis, Utah State Democratic Party chairman.

OGDEN — Former Ogden police chief and state Sen. Jon Greiner is back in the political arena, filing his candidacy for Weber County Commission Seat C.

Also filing for the seat are fellow Republican Matthew Bell, chairman of the Weber County Republican Party, and Democrat Corey Combe.

Dee: Attorney general campaign won't hurt current job

SALT LAKE CITY — Weber County Attorney Dee Smith made it official Monday, formally filing for the Democratic nomination for attorney general of Utah.

Smith filed his papers at the lieutenant governor’s office in the state Capitol, joined by party officials and the party’s candidate for governor, retired Maj. Gen. Peter Cooke, who also filed.

Davis County clerks report their office was very busy Friday with candidate filings beginning as early as 8 a.m. The candidate filing period, at clerk offices across the state, continues through 5 p.m. Thursday.

Incumbents file early in Weber County

OGDEN — Weber County’s first filers in the 2012 election were mostly incumbents, including several legislators who made it down despite being up late Thursday night for the Legislature’s final day in session.

Friday was the first day to file for elective office in Utah, ranging from the U.S. Congress to local school boards and county commission seats.

South Temple, Salt Lake City. A memorial will be held Monday, March 12, at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center, 138 W. Broadway (300 South), in Salt Lake City. The family will receive friends from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. Monday at the center. The service will begin at 1 p.m. and will be followed by internment at the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S. Highland Drive, Salt Lake City. An open house celebrating Todd’s life will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday for friends and family at the Utah Democratic Party Headquarters, 825 N. 300 West, Salt Lake City. The family suggests donations to a perpetual scholarship, named the “Todd Taylor Intern Scholarship Fund,” created by the Democratic Party. These scholarships can be used at any of the state’s colleges or universities.
