An overflowing Weber River has forced the park to close. “A lot of revenue will be lost,” says Weber County Parks and Recreation Manager Jim Carter.

Tour records break at Snowbasin finals

SNOWBASIN -- Louie Vito didn't win the day, but he did enough to win the season.

The Ohio native and Utah resident placed seventh out of 11 in the snowboard superpipe finals of the Winter Dew Tour Toyota Championship, but thanks to first-place finishes at the tour's two earlier stops, he clinched his first Dew Cup despite falling early in his first run and nearly falling toward the end of his second.

Dew Tour kicks off in high-flying fashion

SNOWBASIN -- The championships of the 2011 Winter Dew Tour got under way Thursday as the final athletes worked their way into today's preliminary rounds by shredding a bigger, badder halfpipe and slopestyle course.

For the first time in its three-year history, the Dew Tour offered a last-chance qualification opportunity to athletes who were on the bubble coming into the Toyota Championship at Snowbasin, and 20 male competitors took advantage.

Thursday's top five skiers and snowboarders in both superpipe and slopestyle disciplines advanced to today's prelims, where they will vie for a chance to keep competing into the weekend and improve their tour rankings.
