Dew Tour competition, festivities return to Snowbasin

SNOWBASIN -- The Winter Dew Tour makes its last stop of the season here this week, bringing with it the promise of thousands of spectators and intense competition as many of the world's top skiers and snowboarders vie for a share of $1.5 million in prize money and the title of Dew Cup champion.

No matter the weather, Historic 25th Street is getting stone-cold next Friday night.

Los Angeles' entertainment entrepreneurial legend Ice Cube will take to the street for a free centerpiece concert as part of the Winter Dew Tour, the world-class snowboard and freeski events being hosted by Snowbasin Resort Thursday through Feb. 13.

Last year's Dew Tour-sponsored Dashboard Confessional concert attracted throngs to downtown Ogden.

Get ready for Winter Dew Tour

SNOWBASIN -- Crews here are hard at work building and shaping a huge halfpipe and a course full of massive jumps in anticipation of hosting the biggest event since the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Yep, it's time for the Winter Dew Tour again.

After a successful local debut in 2010, what has quickly become one of the nation's elite freeskiing and snowboarding competitions is returning to Snowbasin -- but this time, the stakes are even higher.

Winter Dew Tour was a unique success

In these challenging economic times, there are still bright spots of growth and energy in our community. One of these is tourism and the resulting impact it has on all of us who live here. Unless you are involved in the hospitality industry, most never stop to think about tourism one way or another. However, the effect it has on all of our residents is important and measurable.
