Refurbished Matterhorn ride Disneyland's cool blast

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Steps away from the honking traffic jam of humanity crushing into the grand opening of Cars Land last month, Disneyland quietly welcomed back one of its icons — the Matterhorn Bobsleds.

The Swiss Alps-themed ride was the park’s first roller coaster in 1959 and has been undergoing much-needed minor repairs and refurbishment during the last six months.

The most notable alteration is completely cosmetic, and instantly recognizable — the mountain simply looks better, much brighter and sharper.

Disneyland train station inspires 'fantasy house'

MILWAUKEE - If a house under construction in Milwaukee seems to resemble the Victorian train station at Disneyland, that's no coincidence.

That's just Tom Hignite doing what he loves to do.

Hignite, the owner of Miracle Homes, is putting up a house that looks like the famous train station - one of the California theme park's most recognizable buildings because it's in the background of the often-photographed flower display of Mickey Mouse.

Theme parks's entry prices jump to new heights

LOS ANGELES - Alhambra, Calif., secretary Laurie Casado struggles each year to buy Disneyland annual passes for herself and her family, so the park's recent announcement that it was jacking up prices by up to 30 percent wasn't exactly good news.

But Casado will buy the passes anyway and cut out something else.

Chris Dallin and his wife Candice enjoy a day at Disneyland on Feb. 29. That day, the park allowed guests to enjoy the attractions for an entire 24-hour period.

Top of Utah Disney fan spends 24 hours with Mickey

ANAHEIM, CALIF. — While people with birthdays on Feb. 29 celebrated the day that come around just once every four years, one Top of Utah resident celebrated the special day that, for him, comes around just once in a lifetime.

Chris Dallin couldn’t miss the only day, in his lifetime, that Disneyland was open for 24 consecutive hours.

The trip, he estimates, was his 50th to the park.
