Syracuse mayor: Waste, sewer board stipend should be removed

SYRACUSE — Mayor Jamie Nagle thinks the stipend involved with any city representative serving on a local waste or sewer board should be removed.

Couple donates oxygen masks to Plain City Fire Department

Dave and Roxanne Jones have donated oxygen masks to the Plain City Fire Department to be used by pets in the event of a fire or other emergency.

Mayor Jay Jenkins said thanked the Jonese for their kindness in making the donation.

CEDAR CITY -- Southern Utah University is announcing a $4 million donation that ranks as the largest gift in the school's 115-year history.

Police get $9,000 donation for radar equipment

PLEASANT VIEW — Police Chief Scott Jackson says the day following an article in the Standard-Examiner explaining the need for new radar equipment, the Pleasant View Police Department received an anonymous donation of $9,000 to pay for three radar units.

Jackson said he is grateful to the donor and to the Standard-Examiner for running the story.

Council members recently approved the purchase of two of the five needed radar units. With the $9,000 donation, all five units will now be purchased.

Food drive helps, but more donations needed for Thanksgiving

RIVERDALE -- The efforts of members, employees and visitors at America First Credit Unions mean hungry Utahns are less at risk today.

On Thursday, America First donated about 400 turkeys and a similar supply of donated nonperishable food to the Utah Food Bank, which will redistribute the items to the 154 partner agencies it serves.

Riverdale — America First Credit Union has added another incentive to donate to its seventh annual food drive. Donors of $10 in food or cash will receive one of the popular Penny and Buck piggy banks.
