Judge orders woman charged in drug cases held in Davis County jail

Dea Millerberg: Eric injected Alexis with meth

OGDEN — Dea Millerberg took the stand this morning to describe Eric Millerberg twice injecting Alexis Rasmussen with methamphetamine on Sept. 11, 2011, and watching the young girl die.

Utah ranks 4th nationwide in overdose deaths

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah ranks fourth in the nation in deaths from prescription drug overdoses, according to a report issued Tuesday by the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"It's not terribly surprising," Utah Department of Public Health spokesman Tom Hudachko said of Utah's high ranking.

Zicam inventor arrested, accused of illegally marketing flu drug

LOS ANGELES -- A Redondo Beach, Calif., man who invented the cold treatment gel Zicam was arrested on federal charges of illegally marketing another drug during a 2005 worldwide bird flu scare.

Spice-ban bill may be amended

SALT LAKE CITY — The bill banning synthetic forms of cannabis smoked like marijuana, as well as bath salts used like cocaine, was sent back to the Senate for possible amendments.

Rep. Gage Froerer, R-Huntsville, sponsor of House Bill 23, said Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clinton, had met with the Controlled Substance Advisory Committee on Thursday and learned there may be two more synthetic forms of cannabis that are not listed in the bill.

BOSTON (AP) -- An infectious-disease nightmare is unfolding: A new gene that can turn many types of bacteria into superbugs resistant to nearly all antibiotics has sickened people in three states and is popping up all over the world, health officials reported Monday.
