Layton pair busted with drugs, forged documents

FARMINGTON — Two Layton residents are facing multiple felony charges after Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force officials say they found illegal drugs and numerous fake identification cards in the couple’s home.

Danielle Rae Kennington, 27, and Alec Jason Thomas, 32, appeared Friday in 2nd District Court.

Kennington is charged with three first-degree felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute; 10 third-degree felony counts of forgery; and one class A misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Local law enforcement agencies saw a disturbing trend in 2011 of out-of-state crews coming into the area to sell illegal drugs, everything from marijuana and methamphetamine to illegal prescriptions, cocaine and heroin.

"This is just following a national trend that has hit here," said Lt. Darin Parke with the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force.

Ogden closes Courtyard Inn motel for ordinance violations

OGDEN -- The Courtyard Inn motel will be shut down at 3:05 p.m. Friday by the city because of violations of the public nuisance and business license ordinances.

Students arrested in drug raid at Bonneville High School

WASHINGTON TERRACE — Nearly a dozen students left Bonneville High School in handcuffs Tuesday morning after a bust by the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force. Also arrested was one Roy High School student and one from Two Rivers High School in Ogden.

During an extended investigation, strike force agents purchased hallucinogenic mushrooms, marijuana, prescription medication and ecstasy from the 13 teenagers, who range in age from 14 to 17.

“This isn’t just a problem with this high school. It’s all of them,” Lt. Darin Parke said as a teenager in handcuffs cursed at another officer nearby. “The link to this high school is proof of that. It’s sad to see them trying to act like adult drug dealers already.”

Prison guard charged with selling heroin at Layton mall

LAYTON -- A prison guard is in jail after being arrested on suspicion of dealing heroin.

Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force agents arrested Jacob Olson, 23, Tuesday night in the parking lot of Layton Hills Mall after they observed Olson conducting a drug transaction.
