Hondurans protest DEA leave after shooting

TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras -- People in Honduras' predominantly Indian Mosquito coast region burned down government offices and demanded that U.S. drug agents leave the area, reacting angrily to an anti-drug operation in which they say police gunfire killed four innocent people, including two pregnant women.

Texas mayor called target of alleged murder-for-hire plot

ARLINGTON, Texas -- Mayor Robert Cluck and a Dallas attorney hired to represent the city were the targets in an alleged murder-for-hire plot that led to the arrest of a co-owner of Flashdancer Cabaret, the city said Tuesday night.

FBI agents arrested Ryan Walker Grant on Monday at his home in Kennedale, Texas. The Drug Enforcement Administration was also involved in the investigation.

The second official was Tom Brandt, who represents the city on matters regarding sexually oriented businesses.

School drug search nabs teacher; student defends instructor

LOS ANGELES -- When the police were leaving a Thousand Oaks, Calif., high school campus after a routine search of student lockers for contraband, one of their drug-sniffing dogs paused at a vehicle in the staff parking lot.

The car belonged to a special education teacher, and police said the marijuana found inside the vehicle did too.

Since Courtney Stockton was placed on leave from his teaching duties at Westlake High School, one of his former students -- a 17-year-old academic standout who took a summer school health class from the teacher -- has come to his defense. Loudly.

'Spice' becoming a major problem for US military

SAN DIEGO — U.S. troops are increasingly using an easy-to-get herbal mix called “spice,” which mimics a marijuana high, is hard to detect and can bring on hallucinations that last for days.

More from out of state selling illegal drugs in Utah

Local law enforcement agencies saw a disturbing trend in 2011 of out-of-state crews coming into the area to sell illegal drugs, everything from marijuana and methamphetamine to illegal prescriptions, cocaine and heroin.

"This is just following a national trend that has hit here," said Lt. Darin Parke with the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force.
