OGDEN -- The drug deal never went down because of the Weber-Morgan Narcotics Strike Force.
Strike force members arrested three people Monday night on the 900 block of 28th Street, who the officers believed came to Ogden to sell methamphetamine and cocaine.
"I can't think of any other reason to have that much meth and crack cocaine," said Sgt. Troy Burnett, a spokesman for the strike force.
Police arrested George A. Hyppolite, 23, of Salt Lake City, on suspicion of a class 1 felony of possession of cocaine with the intent to sell, and Avalon Gistyne Wollenberg, 20, of Park City, on suspicion of a class 1 felony of possession of methamphetamine with the intent to sell. They were also within 1,000 feet of a school.
The pair, along with Terrance Fritz, 29, of Salt Lake City, who also was in the vehicle, were all charged on suspicion of a class 3 felony of possession of marijuana.
Fritz was booked on suspicion of a class C misdemeanor for having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
Hyppolite, who was driving, was pulled over for an improper turn and driving on a revoked/suspended license. The Ogden officers knew the drugs were on the way to this city and implemented a plan to make sure the deal didn't take place.
"We coordinated with Salt Lake, and with the assistance of the Highway Patrol we conducted a traffic stop," Burnett said.
