FARMINGTON -- The case against a former North Salt Lake city attorney and prosecutor has been transferred to 2nd District's drug court.
David Michael Nielsen, 44, of Bountiful, entered a plea in abeyance to one third-degree felony attempted possession or use of a controlled substance. He appeared in 3rd District Court in Salt Lake City on Tuesday.
Nielsen's plea in abeyance was with the agreement that he enters into 2nd District's drug court. His case was transferred to the drug court Tuesday, according to the court's website.
Nielsen was arrested in a Salt Lake City drug sting June 27. He resigned from North Salt Lake afterward.
Nielsen had been a city attorney for North Salt Lake for seven years and city prosecutor for 11 years.
