Rescuers continue search for missing in deadly Phillipines quake

MANILA, Philippines -- Rescuers dug through debris and mud in the central Philippines Tuesday in search of nearly 100 missing a day after a 6.9-magnitude earthquake triggered landslides, collapsed houses and killed at least 48 people.

Rescuers dig to reach trapped in Philippines quake

MANILA, Philippines  -- Rescuers dug with picks and shovels trying to reach dozens of people trapped under houses collapsed by a strong earthquake Monday that shook a central Philippine island and set off landslides.

At least 13 people were killed and 40 are believed missing, most of them along the shore near the epicenter of the 6.9-magnitude quake that struck in a narrow strait just off Negros Island.

Minor earthquake shakes Utah Valley

SALT LAKE CITY -- Scientists say a minor earthquake has shaken the Utah Valley, but apparently causing no injuries or property damage.

The last earthquake. Wells was struck Feb. 21, 2008, by a magnitude 6.0 earthquake that officials say caused nearly $10 million in damage.

Big quake follows increase in Oklahoma rumblings

SPARKS, Okla. -- Clouds of dust belched from the corners of almost every room in Joe Reneau's house as the biggest earthquake in Oklahoma history rocked the two-story building.

A roar that sounded like a jumbo jet filled the air, and Reneau's red-brick chimney collapsed and fell into the roof above the living room. By the time the shaking stopped, a pantry worth of food had been strewn across the kitchen and shards of glass and pottery covered the floor.

A. Probably too long for you to visit this time. The famous monument sustained damage in August during a 5.8-magnitude earthquake recently. Last week, the National Park Service said it will remain closed indefinitely because needed repairs are more extensive than initially thought.
