OGDEN -- Looking for a good deal?
The new BDO Outlet might be just the right place. The outlet store, which opens today to the public, specializes in selling overstocked or slightly less-than-perfect items from distributors in the Business Depot Ogden and other local businesses and manufacturers.
"It's great," said manager Clayton Cook. "The businesses are excited about keeping tax dollars local and by keeping the products local, it benefits the community."
Items for sale at the outlet store cover a broad range and are always changing, Cook said. From longboards to kayaks to sunflower seeds and picnic tables, there isn't much that the outlet store won't carry.
"It's feast or famine," Cook said, adding that the store recently received 10 pallets of Gatorade that it probably will never have in stock again.
The outlet carries products from Lofthouse Cookies, ICON, Lifetime, Elkay, Kahuna, Sources and Edge, among other manufacturers. The products are sold to the store because they have been returned, have scratches or dents, were discontinued, or are approaching or have passed "best if used by" dates.
Most items are at least 50 percent off retail prices. Cook said that all sales are final, and most items that are defective are clearly labeled, such as a pallet of sweet potatoes that were mislabeled as yams and ended up on the storeroom floor.
"There's nothing tricky about it," he said.
Cook emphasized that the store is not part of or connected to management of BDO, but a separate business that sought out manufacturers that would benefit from having a resale-type store available.
Cook said they are always looking for other businesses or distributors looking to sell product in the store. Anyone interested can call the store at 801-452-6208.
