OGDEN — Crews restored power to an Ogden neighborhood around noon on Thursday after an early-morning outage forced the closure of Mound Fort Junior High School.
Students who arrived to the school early were sent home and those who hadn’t arrived by the time district officials ordered the closure were asked not to come.
Rocky Mountain Power officials told the district that the outage, which was reported around 6:09 a.m., would likely last into the afternoon.
It took crews about six hours to repair a damaged underground power line. Besides the school, the outage only affected about 10 homes, said RMP Spokesman Jeff Hymas.
District Spokeswoman Donna Corby said that no other schools in the district had to shut down, including nearby Gramercy Elementary, which has plenty of natural light and can operate during an outage.
