BOUNTIFUL -- A former Viewmont High School student was taken to the hospital Monday after a fight at his former school left him with a head injury, said Bountiful Police Lt. Solomon Oberg.
Spencer Spilman, who graduated from Viewmont last year and was back visiting a former teacher, was part of a fight that included students from Bountiful and Woods Cross High Schools. The fight took place in the middle of the school day, and Spilman was flown to an area hospital with a serious head injury.
"We haven't had a chance to talk with him yet," Oberg said. "We know he was there speaking with a former teacher of his, but that is all we can confirm."
Oberg said he does not know why the fight started, or why the students from the other high schools came to the Viewmont parking lot.
Oberg said that three students were arrested and booked into Farmington Bay Youth Center, a detention center for juveniles. They are being held on chargers of aggravated assault.
"I want to say there were at least five (students), likely more than that (involved), but we're still trying to sort all that out through interviews," Oberg said.
