Monthly food drop at Elim Lutheran Church canceled

OGDEN — Families that have been relying on Fishes and Loaves, an outside food drop, once a month for three years at Elim Lutheran Church received their last help Thursday.

Healing service set for Sunday at Elim

OGDEN — The Stephen Ministers of Elim Evangelical Lutheran Church, 575 23rd St., will conduct a full service of healing at 10 a.m. Sunday.

This service is open to any person of any faith who feels the need for physical, mental or spiritual healing, states a church news release.

The service will focus on prayers of healing, laying on of hands and anointing with the sign of the cross.

Stephen Ministers, along with Pastor DanaLee Simon, will lead the service, but everyone will be invited to take part in the laying on of hands.

Elim Lutheran Church sets adult Bible study

OGDEN — Pastor DanaLee Simon of Elim Lutheran Church, 575 23rd St., Ogden, announced the subjects for the next seven weeks of adult education, scheduled for 9 a.m. every Sunday morning.

Elim Lutheran Church invites all to healing service

OGDEN — The Stephen Ministers of Elim Evangelical Lutheran Church, 575 23rd St., Ogden, will conduct a full service of healing at 10 a.m. Sunday.

According to a news release from the church, Pastor DanaLee Simon said this date was chosen intentionally in the midst of Advent because, “as glorious a time of year as this can be, it is also a difficult time of year for those who struggle with depression or who are missing loved ones who have died or who can’t be home for the holidays.”

Elim Lutheran Church announces Advent classes

OGDEN — The Season of Advent is the first season in the church year, and comprises the four Sundays before Christmas.

This year Elim Lutheran Church, at 575 23rd St., will have a series of adult education classes at 9 a.m. Sundays, and Family Advent Nights at 6 p.m. Mondays.

OGDEN — The Lutheran Youth Organization of Elim Lutheran Church, 575 23rd St. in Ogden, is having a rummage sale all day today.

Items for sale include clothing, furniture, household appliances, cameras, stereos and other electronic items, and cookware.

Elim Lutheran offers hymn course for adults

OGDEN -- Beginning this Sunday at 9 a.m., Sharon Moore, of Elim Lutheran Church, 575 23rd St., in Ogden, will teach a four-week adult education course titled "Hymns of Community."

According to a news release from the church, the course will take participants on a Biblical exploration of grace through the poetry, music and history of four beloved hymns.

Chili cookoff Sunday at Elim Lutheran

OGDEN -- Elim Lutheran Church, 575 23rd St., will have its second annual chili cookoff at 11:15 a.m. Sunday.

The event will be a fundraiser for Elim's Boy Scout Troop 54. The money raised will help fund Troop 54's summer camp and four Scouts' 2013 BSA Jamboree in West Virginia, according to a news release from the church.

Scouts, others invited to learn about Ten Commandments during Ogden hike

OGDEN — Ogden-area Boy Scouts and their families can get to know the Ten Commandments from a little different perspective Saturday morning, when the Boy Scouts of America Trapper Trails Council sponsors its second annual Ten Commandments Hike.

The event is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at the Salvation Army, 2615 Grant Ave.

Workshop at Elim Lutheran Church to focus on suicide prevention

OGDEN -- The community is invited as Kristy Jones of NUHOPE, a local suicide prevention agency, presents a two-part suicide prevention workshop at Elim Lutheran Church starting Sunday.

The free workshop will run from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. Sunday and April 22 at the church, 575 23rd St., in Ogden.
