BOUNTIFUL — Bomb sniffing dogs from numerous police agencies were at Bountiful High School Wednesday morning, searching hallways to make sure their were no more chemical bombs following an explosion at the school.

PHILADELPHIA — A massive fire at an abandoned warehouse claimed the lives of two Philadelphia firefighters after a wall collapsed inside an adjacent building where the two men were trying to halt the fire’s progress, officials said Monday.

HAFB officials, emergency responders, train for worst-case scenario

HILL AIR FORCE BASE — As he wandered around the flight line with what appeared to be severe burns on his right arm, neck and face, Kevin Marshall looked like he was in shock.

All around him were other people with apparent injuries, most of them lying on the ground, screaming.

An F-16 fuselage, with smoke coming from under the downed fighter jet, sat in the middle of a circle of people pleading for help.

Fire rips through Layton home

LAYTON — Two people were displaced from their home Wednesday night after a fire damaged the home and two vehicles in the garage.

A man who lived at the residence, at 402 N. Owen St., was treated at the scene for singed hair and a minor burn to the head, said Layton Fire Public Information Officer Doug Bitton.

Know your rights if you have to get a payday loan

Those brightly lit, garish-looking storefronts that promise "CASH NOW!" and "NO CREDIT CHECKS!!!" are the purveyors of payday loans, or "deferred deposit loans," as the Utah Code prefers to call them.

The loans are usually for smaller amounts, between $50 and $500, but carry annual interest rates often exceeding 500 percent.

Viewmont student suffers seizure during weight workout

BOUNTIFUL — A Viewmont High School student was in critical condition Wednesday afternoon after he was injured during a weightlifting workout, say Bountiful fire officials.

Six Layton homes evacuated after gas leak

LAYTON — Six homes had to be evacuated Thursday morning, after crews installing fiber-optic cables for high-speed internet clipped a two-inch natural gas line.
