The Mountain View Inn recently received recognition as Hill Air Force Base Energy Champion for Fiscal Year 2009. The facility is under the leadership of Amy Munnell, Hill AFB Lodging assistant manager and a member of the 75th Force Support Squadron. The Mountain View Inn's outstanding team members have set themselves apart through their exceptional efforts to raise energy conservation and awareness and showcase energy efficiencies throughout nine lodging facilities encompassing over 300 temporary living quarters.

Over the past year Munnell's staff has replaced over 1,800 incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient compact fluorescent bulbs. Savings averaged 47 watts per fixture. Their efforts alone have contributed to Hill AFB surpassing its goal as a participant in the Department of Energy's "Change the World, Energy Star Campaign," saving more than 84,600 watts in energy and $12,931 in cost per year. This is the equivalent of saving more than 970,000 pounds of green house gas emissions.

The exceptional accomplishments of Munnell and her staff and many others like them throughout "Team Hill" strive to make a difference every day with effective energy conservation actions.
