CLEARFIELD -- The city council has approved lighting upgrades to bolster the city's effort to be energy efficient.
Through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, Clearfield was awarded a grant to upgrade and retrofit lighting fixtures to become more energy efficient in buildings throughout the city.
Staff solicited bids for labor to complete the project, as materials will be purchased through the state contract pricing.
The council recently approved a contract with Positive Power for $15,664. This figure includes the cost to dispose of the lighting tubes that will no longer be used.
Work will be done on the community center, the public works shop, the fleet shop, the salt warehouse and the parks shop. It is expected to be finished in 90 days.
