Guess who's coming to Sundance?
The 2010 Sundance Film Festival on Wednesday announced dramas and documentaries in the festival competition. Noncompetition films and films in additional categories will be revealed in the coming days.
But if the stars arrive to support their films, we can name a few you may get to see:
* Kristen Stewart ("Twilight"), who sets her vampire love aside to play an underage hooker offering sex to a disinterested James Gandolfini, in "Welcome to the Rileys."
* Jon Hamm ("Mad Men"), who trades his suave '60s suits for '50s lawyer togs, to play an attorney defending a beat poet (played by James Franco) in an obscenity trial, in "Howl."
* And Joan Rivers plays her abrasively comic self in "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work."
Additional stars with films coming to the the Jan. 21-31 festival include Mary-Louis Parker, Orlando Bloom, Natalie Portman, America Ferrera, Rainn Wilson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jesse Eisenberg, Juliette Lewis, Laura Linney and Edie Falco.
The festival announced 16 U.S. documentary films, selected from 862 submissions. Among them are "I'm Pat Tillman," about the former pro football star killed by "friendly fire."
Sundance announced 16 U.S. dramatic films, selected from 1,058 submissions, including "Hesher," about a mysterious trickster tormenting a family struggling with a loss.
The World Cinema Documentary Competition includes a dozen films from the 782 submitted, including "Kick in Iran," about the first professional tae kwon do fighter from Iran to qualify for the Olympic Games; she struggles for recognition in a society in which women play a subordinate role.
Fourteen films comprise the World Cinema Narrative Competition, selected from 1,022 submissions. The list includes "Me Too (Yo También)," about a college-educated man with Down syndrome who forges a friendship with a free-spirited co-worker.
