The Deer Valley Music Festival features a fundraiser this year with the help of The Muir Quartet -- and pianist and Renaissance woman Condoleezza Rice.
The fundraiser, which includes a performance, cocktails and tapas, and a reception with Rice, is at 5 p.m. Jan. 14.
Rice made her mark as a national security adviser and secretary of state for President George W. Bush and as a provost of Stanford University, At one time, however, she was studying to be a concert pianist. Rice has played for heads of state and with world-class musicians.
Recently, she performed before German chancellor Angela Merkel when Merkel visited Stanford. Rice also had a recent performance with Aretha Franklin at Philadelphia's Mann Center for the Performing Arts.
The Muir Quartet, an in-demand chamber ensemble based in the Park City area, has built a faithful following with performances at the Deer Valley's summer music series.
Seating is very limited for this intimate evening. Tickets, which went on sale today, are $150, and can be purchased by calling 801-869-9010.
