Sundance in Ogden: Festival releases films scheduled for Peery's Egyptian Theater

The 2011 Sundance Film Festival has announced the 14 films to screen in Ogden. "This really is a stellar lineup for Ogden," said Brooks Addicott, the festival spokeswoman. "It's very diverse. I would go out on a limb and argue this is the strongest lineup to come to Ogden to date."

Individual tickets, $15 ($10 with military discount), will go on sale at 8 a.m. Jan. 8 at the venue, Peery's Egyptian Theater, 2415 Washington Blvd.

The lineup:

• "The Guard" -- 9:30 p.m. Jan. 21. A salty village cop in Ireland, with a knack for keeping people at arm's length, is forced to work with a strait-laced FBI agent chasing an international drug-smuggling ring. Ireland.
• "Project Nim" -- 6:30 p.m. Jan. 22. Documentary about Nim the chimp, who in the 1970s was raised and nurtured like a human child and taught to use sign language by researchers. United Kingdom.
• "In a Better World" -- 9:30 p.m. Jan. 22. Anton works as a doctor at an African refugee camp, where victims of brutality come for treatment. His home is in a small Danish town, where one of his sons is being bullied, testing Anton's commitment to peaceful conflict resolution. In Danish, Swedish and English, with subtitles. • "The Ledge" -- 3:30 p.m. Jan. 23. Atop a high-rise building, a young hotel manager is about to end his life. A detective with his own personal problems is dispatched to the scene. Each man begins to open up about his past, and neither is convinced that his life is worth living. Charlie Hunnam, Liv Tyler, Patrick Wilson, Terrence Howard. USA.
• "Win Win" -- 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23. A struggling attorney who volunteers as a high school wrestling coach takes on the guardianship of an elderly client. The man's grandson arrives and complicates matters even more. Paul Giamatti, Amy Ryan, Bobby Cannavale, Jeffrey Tambor. USA.
• "My Idiot Brother" -- 6:30 p.m. Jan. 24. Optimist Ned always finds himself in trouble, getting jail time for selling pot to a uniformed cop, being dumped by his girlfriend and, worse yet, losing custody of his beloved dog, Willie Nelson. • "The Music Never Stopped" -- 6:30 p.m. Jan. 25. Almost 20 years after his teen ran away, a man learns his son has turned up in a hospital with a benign tumor and memory loss. Only rock music interests the son, which is what drove the men apart two decades earlier. Henry's only means to reconcile with his son is by embracing the very music that divided them in the first place. Julia Ormond, Cara Seymour, Lou Taylor Pucci. USA.
• "The Greatest Movie Ever Sold" -- 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26. In this documentary, filmmaker and provocateur Morgan Spurlock offers a tongue-in-cheek examination of product placement, marketing and advertising by making a film financed entirely by product placement, marketing and advertising. USA.
• "Perfect Sense" -- 6:30 p.m. Jan. 27. When Susan, an epidemiologist, re-emerges from an affair gone sour, she meets a new man, but also sees a patient who may be suffering with a disease soon to be a pandemic. Ewan McGregor, Eva Green. United Kingdom.
