Forest personnel to burn oak brush

Mar 17 2011 - 10:57pm

OGDEN -- Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forests fire and fuels personnel plan to burn about 127 piles of oak brush during the next few weeks.

The piles are along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail between Strongs Canyon and Beus Canyon, east of Weber State University.

If weather conditions change, ignition may be delayed until they are favorable.

During the pile burning, Ogden residents may see smoke. Fire personnel will monitor the burns.

The objective is to create a fuel break that reduces the risk of fire spreading from the National Forest to the community, and to return important nutrients to the soil.
