Forum at Episcopal Church to look at domestic violence

CENTERVILLE -- The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1131 S. Main St., in Centerville, will hold a forum at 7 p.m. May 2 on how to support victims of domestic violence.

Speakers from the Utah Domestic Violence Council and the law enforcement community will address the audience about common concerns encountered by victims and tell of community resources available to help victims and families, a news release from the church states.

Scouts, others invited to learn about Ten Commandments during Ogden hike

OGDEN — Ogden-area Boy Scouts and their families can get to know the Ten Commandments from a little different perspective Saturday morning, when the Boy Scouts of America Trapper Trails Council sponsors its second annual Ten Commandments Hike.

The event is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at the Salvation Army, 2615 Grant Ave.

Adult forum to study Oxford Movement

BRIGHAM CITY -- On April 22, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 589 S. 200 East, in Brigham City, the service of Holy Eucharist will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Nursery care is available for small children.

The Sunday Adult Forum will meet at 10:30 a.m.

The forum, moderated by David Seiter, is a study of the Oxford Movement, which was a 19th Century movement that led the Anglican Church to its present liturgy, according to a news release from the church.

Episcopal church in Ogden offers series on beliefs

OGDEN -- The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd is offering a six-week event that will address issues and beliefs within the church.

Via Media, which begins at 6 p.m. Monday at the church, 2374 Grant Ave., will include a meal, 20-minute DVD presentation and discussion, said Mark Letourneau, chairman of the adult education program at the church. The program is free of charge and open to anyone in the community.

The workshop will be Aug. 13 from noon to 4 p.m. at the church at 2374 Grant Ave. The workshop trains members in the congregation on how to build a congregation for members of the lesbian, bisexual, transgendered and gay community.

Service in labyrinth proves popular

BRIGHAM CITY -- The service held outdoors on the labyrinth in the annex garden at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 589 S. 200 East, in Brigham City, was quite successful and will be repeated at intervals during the summer, a news release states.

Combined Watch Night Service set

OGDEN — The combined Watch Night Service (New Zion Baptist, Second Baptist and Emery African Methodist Episcopal churches) will be held at New Zion Baptist Church, 2935 Lincoln Ave., Ogden, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday. There will be praise and worship, youth performances, dynamic preaching, testimony time and a candlelight communion service.
