Spring session to bring more big news to LDS faithful?

RIVERDALE — Serena Bird, who turned 20 Monday and is waiting for her mission call, has reason to be both excited and nervous.

The Riverdale resident doesn’t know where on Earth she’ll be living starting as soon as June, when she expects to leave on her mission, and she’s also worried that more changes in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints missionary program may be announced this weekend.

“What if they make it so women can serve for two years? That’s another six months you have to pay for,” she said, noting her savings and the generosity of her grandparents and parents.

Bird said she remembers the exact moment six months ago at the fall General Conference when she realized her life plans had changed with one quick announcement.
