WOODS CROSS -- Silver Eagle Refining will hold a public meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Legacy Preparatory Academy, 2214 S. 1250 West, for the refinery staff to provide to residents living near the refinery information on the Vacuum Unit and to answer any questions they might have.
Beginning in the next few weeks and continuing through the end of the year, Silver Eagle plans to restart parts of its refinery that have been shut down since an explosion Nov. 4, 2009, the company said Wednesday in a news release. These include the process furnace and reactor unit, on which the U.S. Chemical Safety Board recently lifted restrictions, allowing Silver Eagle to begin inspections and repairs.
The refinery is looking at restarting the Vacuum Unit next. This unit, which was not involved in the November incident, operates at a low pressure and has the capability of processing 5,000 barrels per day, the news release said.
