OGDEN -- Get ready to "Stirrup Some Fun."
That's the tag line for the 2011 Weber County Fair, approved Thursday at the Weber County Fair Advisory Board meeting in the Golden Spike Events Center conference room.
Fair organizers and marketing experts at Graymatter Advertising in Bountiful came up with the tag line, which will appear on promotional material for this summer's county fair.
Organizers are working to finalize a contract with an Eagles tribute band lined up for Aug. 11. It is the first chosen grandstand show; organizers are looking at entertainment for the other nights as well.
Returning events will be the hypnotist, petting zoo and pony rides.
The fair will include a talent competition, such as "A Minute To Win It" or "Weber County's Got Talent." If enough interest is expressed, the fair could feature both events. Board members discussed letting a local radio station handle the event, serving as promoters and judges.
Other events may include a Bigfoot presentation, which would take place inside the Golden Spike Events Center. The board said they were told that the presentation brings in about 5,000 people.
To provide more parking for fairgoers, organizers are working to use a piece of currently open land in Business Depot Ogden, adjacent to the fair grounds.
Aside from discussing possible events and a tag line, the board voted to approve the appointment of fair superintendents, each tasked with managing a specific job for the fair. There are currently two open positions among the superintendents.
