Brigham City -- The Brigham City Community Emergency Response Team program has scheduled its spring classes for 9 a.m. to
4 p.m. May 7, 14 and 21.
CERT educates people about disaster preparedness for hazards that may affect their area and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.
Using the training learned in the classroom and during exercises, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event when professional responders are not immediately able to help.
CERT members also are encouraged to support emergency response agencies by taking a more active role in emergency preparedness projects in their community.
All classes are free to Brigham City residents and will be held at the Hervin Bunderson Center, 641 E. 200 North. For more information or to sign up, call Flora Reiter at 435-723-7866 or Mike Allen at 435-734-2553.
