Students enjoy socializing in Layton High's upgraded digs

LAYTON — With about 1,700 students sharing one lunch period, Layton High School, thanks in part to a $23 million two-phase construction upgrade, has a new cafeteria and commons area that allows them to eat and meet together.

Lakeview Hospital expansion under way

BOUNTIFUL — Lakeview Hospital is expanding its emergency room to accommodate more patients and allow for more privacy.

The hospital broke ground on the $3 million project on Friday and expects it to be completed by September.

The new emergency department will have 15 beds with the ability to flex up to 20 beds as needed, said Emergency Department director Bernadette Waldrop. Right now, the department has 10 beds with the ability to flex to 12 beds as needed.

Commercial expansion approved in Clearfield

The city council approved changing the layout of a plat to be more conducive to expanding a commercial site.

The five lots, approximately 709 S. State St., were originally platted in the mid-1940s as part of the Thornley’s Subdivision.

The lots have undergone different arrangements since then that have been approved and reviewed by the county.
