Many homeowners are redoing rooms with everything from simple updates to complete remodels, and the bathroom is a good place to start. Thanks to high-quality, easy-to-maintain materials that can be designed to suit your needs, you can have a “new” bathroom installed in just a couple of days.

Get a new look in your bathroom in just a couple of days

OGDEN — With today’s economy, many people are opting to remodel rather than move.

One room in the house that is no longer overlooked is the bathroom. In addition, gone are the days, weeks and months that a remodeling project once required. Today, most companies can be in and out of your house in two days or less.

“After we produce the materials, it takes from four to eight hours to install,” said Rebecca Erdmann, co-owner of Sand & Swirl in Ogden. “We use high quality raw materials and usually only have one person in your home working on the project.”

Building tips from Lowe’s Home Improvement

OGDEN — If you’ve always wanted to build your own home, you might want to stop by the Standard-Examiner’s Fall Home Show and Spa Expo.

This year, experts from Lowe’s Home Improvement will be on hand to show you exactly what you need to get started, whether it’s some of the basics when building a home from the ground up or just making a few simple repairs.

Mandy Masters, assistant store manager for Zone 3 at Lowe’s, said several demonstrations will be given during the two-day event to teach people how to frame and drywall a home as well as how to install wood and tile flooring.

In addition, specialists will show you how to correctly patch up a hole in the wall

Preserve bright summer shades with design strokes

If dreary forecasts get your spirits down now that it’s officially autumn, consider taking control by adding cheerful colors to your home. Summer greens and vibrant colors of flowers can be preserved with just a few simple “magical” design strokes. Let’s see how.

Neutral carpets, hardwood floors, tile or marble flooring can be awakened with colorful area rugs. Area rugs or simple throw rugs can transform a room without the expense of remodeling. Once a colorful area rug has been selected, add a few accent pieces of the same colors throughout the room for balance and continuity.

Bathroom colors and accessories have shifted from the mundane to the marvelous, with rich, warm hues and themes that express a creative, personal touch. The bathroom shown here is a great example of crisp white and soothing blue for a nautical look that works in
any home.

Colors making a splash in today’s bathrooms

OGDEN — The bathroom is one of the most intimate rooms in the home, and people are no longer ignoring it the way they did in the past.

Dane Quittner, marketing director for Re-Bath of Utah in Salt Lake City, said homeowners are decorating their bathrooms with a much more personal, creative touch these days.

“There’s been a huge shift in bathroom colors,” he said. “A lot of the warmer colors are very popular. We’re seeing orange, salmon, teal, greens.”
