Davis Youth Summit changes hearts, attitudes

LAYTON — “If one person goes out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction.”

FARMINGTON -- More than 28,000 Davis County youths from 16 organizations received a happy Thanksgiving Day gift Tuesday when the Davis County Commission awarded the groups $17,500 in grants.

Your Valet cleaner sponsors coat drive for charity

OGDEN — Your Valet Fine Dry Cleaning is having a coat drive for charity.

The coats will be cleaned and given to United Way, YCC and Youth Impact in Weber County and Family Connection Center in Davis County.

Coats for adults and children of all ages will be accepted. The drive will continue until early December, with coats distributed well before Christmas.

Donated coats may be brought to any Your Valet location: 2898 Washington Blvd. in Ogden; 2600 N. Washington Blvd., North Ogden; 1501 S. Main St. in Bountiful.

Social Services money distributed

FARMINGTON -- The Family Connection Center in Clearfield and the Safe Harbor shelter for victims of domestic abuse were each allocated $22,000 as Davis County officials distributed the Social Services Block Grant money.

The county received $112,218 for the 2011-12 fiscal year, said Scott A. Hess, Davis County planner, who oversees the county's grant application process.

Zions Bank donates $500 to family center

LAYTON -- The new Zions Bank branch on Fort Lane recently celebrated its grand opening and ribbon-cutting.
