Clearfield Farmers Market gets new location

CLEARFIELD -- The Farmers Market is an open air market bringing people the freshness of home-grown foods and other crafts.

The market is open from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday through the end of October (weather permitting). The new location is on the grassy area in front of the Clearfield Aquatic Center, 825 S. State St.

Kids’ art contest in Clearfield to combat smoking

CLEARFIELD — Clearfield has joined forces to hold an anti-smoking children’s artwork contest.

New weeknight farmers market opens in Ogden

OGDEN -- People trickled into the Oasis Farmers Market on Wednesday and liked what they saw.

The market, at 2450 Monroe Blvd., is in its second week this summer in the middle of Oasis Community Gardens, a spot sponsored by Junior League of Ogden, where residents can grow their own vegetables.

S. Weber starts new farmer's market

SOUTH WEBER -- The city is holding a new Farmer's Market from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every third Saturday of the month during the summer and early fall at Canyon Meadows Park, 475 E. Peterson Parkway. Market dates are July 16, Aug. 20 and Sept. 17.

Farmer's market tonight at gardens

KAYSVILLE -- The Utah State University Botanical Center Farmer's Market opens tonight in Kaysville.

The market will be open from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, through Oct. 13, at the Botanical Center, 850 S. 50 West. Vendors will offer local produce, baked goods and handmade items. Live music will play, and visitors can explore the gardens.

Entrepreneurs hit farmers markets

Denise Petersen, of Kaysville, enjoyed her hobby of making jewelry out of antiques. When people started noticing her jewelry and wanted some for themselves, Peterson considered making a business of her hobby.

But she wasn't quite sure if her hobby could really make it as a business. Her next step? Opening a booth at a local farmers market.

Farmer's market set for new location

SYRACUSE -- A change of venue is coming this year for the city's weekly farmer's market, which will begin in late June.

The market will be moved to the parking lot of R.C. Willey as part of a new partnership between the business and the city museum.

Revenues from the market traditionally benefit the museum, City Manager Bob Rice said.

BYU plans farmer's market for football stadium

PROVO -- Brigham Young University is bringing local food to its LaVell Edwards Stadium.

The Daily Herald of Provo reports the Mormon church-owned school will launch the "Stadium Farmer's Market" with goods from local growers, bakers and artisans. The market will run for four Thursdays beginning Sept. 23.

OGDEN -- Among the peas and cherries, woodwork and sculpture on Historic 25th Street lies the heart of everyday capitalism.

People selling what they grow in the yard, or sow out of their imagination, were all part of the opening day on Saturday at the Historic 25th Street Farmers & Art Market.
