FARR WEST -- Three people were injured Monday afternoon in a two-car accident on the State Route 126 overpass and Interstate 15.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry said a 36-year-old woman from Brigham City was driving a red pickup truck south on SR-126 Monday at 1:40 p.m. A gold Saturn coming south from I-15 failed to yield where SR-126 and the freeway exit intersect.

The pickup truck smashed into the Saturn on the driver's side, sending it flying across the road and into a metal guardrail. The Saturn was being driven by a 24-year-old man and had a 24-year-old female passenger in the front seat and a 3-year-old passenger in a child safety seat directly behind the driver.

The woman driving the pickup was injured, Perry said, but the injuries were not life-threatening. The woman in the Saturn also suffered similar injuries. The 3-year-old did not appear to be injured but was visibly upset, Perry said.

The man driving the Saturn had to be extricated from the vehicle. Perry said he received the worst injuries, but at the time, police were unable to judge their full extent.

"He's talking, conscious and alert," Perry said. "He's complaining of pain in his lower extremities." The three were taken to an Ogden hospital.

Perry said traffic was affected only for those motorists going south on SR-126. They were forced to detour onto the freeway, going north. He said the closure lasted about 45 minutes.
