Rebecca Goeckeritz lives a charmed life. She's an accomplished musician and a motivational speaker, she interviews people for documentary films, travels the world, and has a husband who loves her so much that he carried her to the top of the steep ancient ruins at Uxmal, Mexico. Her latest feat? Completing her first marathon.

"I exceeded my expectations," Goeckeritz said. "I was able to come in at 2 hours and 10 minutes, and I was expecting to do it in 3 hours, so it felt really good."

Goeckeritz, 31, who lives in Salt Lake City and works as an office manager in a Bountiful accounting business, competed in the ING Miami Marathon's hand cycle division on Jan. 29.

In spite of living life in a wheelchair, and in some ways because of it, she says she really does live a charmed life.

OGDEN -- Despite leading the entire game, Weber State had to scratch and claw to come away with an 84-75 win over Eastern Washington on Saturday at the Dee Events Center.

Brigham Young (21-6 overall, 9-3 West Coast Conference) smashed Pepperdine 86-48 on Saturday at the Marriott Center, getting a season-best 23 points from its senior forward and cruising to its highest margin of victory this season.

Abouo, who knocked down five 3-pointers, wfinished 7 of 11 overall and also hauled in 12 rebounds to lead all players.

OGDEN -- Amber Bridenstein, 26, hung back from the growing crowd Friday night, unlike her sibling.

Bridenstein said her 20-year-old sister, Ashley, had pushed her way through the packed crowd to the front, right at the Winter Dew Tour concert stage.

Mac Miller, a rapper from Pittsburgh, was set to kick off the annual event Friday evening.
