LAYTON -- The refreshments, fun and live music are all free. Those who attend may have to supply their own dancing partner.
The ninth annual Valentine's Day dance, sponsored by the Layton Family Recreation program, will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Central Davis Junior High Gymnasium, 663 Church St.
The dance, open to all ages, is free to the public.
The dance will include refreshments and live music provided by Mid-Life Crisis, City Parks and Recreation supervisor Dave Thomas said.
The band will perform music from the '50s, '60s and '70s.
"It seems like it grows every year," Councilwoman Joyce Brown. "I see grandparents there, all the way down."
A number of people who attend the Valentine's Day activity do not dance, she said, but come to enjoy the music.
With the economy being what it is, Brown said, the dance is a free, wholesome activity for the entire family.
In addition to dancing and refreshments, free pictures taken with your sweetheart and prize drawings and giveaways will be held, she said.
The city's family recreation program sponsors a monthly activity for families that are free or provided at a reduced cost, Brown said.
