Hopes shattered in 'Glass Menagerie'
FARMINGTON -- Second Chance Theater will present "The Glass Menagerie" next week at the Farmington Community Art Center
The Tennessee Williams play, based on a memory from his youth, tells the story of Laura, an unmarried woman who lives with her mother and tends a collection of glass figurines, until her mother tries to set her up with a gentleman caller.
"I've always loved the show," said director Jana Dearden, of Kaysville, who directs the show and plays the mother, Amanda. "It's set in the Depression era, and I think a lot of people can relate to hard times, to the mother/daughter relationship, and to waiting for things that aren't coming."
"The Glass Menagerie" will be presented at 7 p.m. March 26, and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. March 27, at the art center, 120 S. Main St. Tickets are $6 to $8, and will be available at the door or through www.secondchancetheater.com.

Medieval murder on the menu at fundraiser
BRIGHAM CITY -- "A Knight of Murder" will take place a week from today at the Brigham City Senior/Community Center.
The dinner-theater performance, with a medieval theme, will be a fundraiser for the Meals on Wheels program in Box Elder County. Costumes are encouraged, but not required; organizers suggest participants think of the Robin Hood era. Expect merriment, murder and a chance to guess "who done it."
"We will create quite an atmosphere of fun and audience participation," said Iantha Folkman, event spokeswoman. "We'll have the hall decorated with suits of armor. Dinner will be mostly hand food, with roast chicken, fruit, a green salad and a soup bowl.
"You only get a knife and fork, so you have to figure out how to eat the soup," she said, with a laugh. "But tipping the bowl would probably work."
The event begins at 6 p.m. in the center, 24 N. 300 West. Tickets are $15.
For reservations, call (435) 723-3303.
